I don´t thinbk, that the position is bad for white. Sf6, e6 isn´t the best answer to orang-utan. The only move against 1. b4 is 1. ... e5, so the German correspondence playert Elwert in his book "Gewinnen mit b4" [Winning with b4].

Had 1. b4 played against me in a tournament once and ended up drawing with a player rated 300 points higher than me at the time.

Played 1... d5 and 2... Nf6 afair.

This is a good answer to b4, but the most agressive is still 1. ... e5. If You like it weird, try the Tuebinger Variation 1. ... Sh6.

e5 doesn't make sense to me .. it is just setting up a target for the dark squared bishop! (that's not to say it is bad per se I just think it would take more theory to learn the theory, something I'm not willing to do for an opening that i would see maybe once every 2 years)

d5 makes a bit more sense but i still think Nf6 followed by e6 is simple and effective .. with the added bonus of only having to remember 2 moves .. the rest of the opening plays itself

Indeed, the shredder-database prefer 1. ... d5.
