Alright, who's played it? 1.b4 - one of the funnest openings around. 🙂 Anybody ever used it in a serious game? I've used it a couple of times today in blitz, and every game has had black gain a comfortable advantage only to ruin it in the confusion the opening brings. 🙂

I used it a couple of times in my youth to upset the old fools at the chess club I played at. Now my sons occasionally use it to upset this old fool.

Never played it! Perhaps I should give it a try. Is it as good as the Grob (1. g4)?

I am currently playing it with black against User 149310. He is living up to his user name.

    I think after
    1. b4 Nf6
    2. Bb2 e6
    3. b5

There is not much that white can be proud of.

From here i think black can develop a very comfortable QID setup if he doesn't want to learn anymore theory on this oddity

Indeed. I can't see b5 being much worse than the only other viable alternative: a3. Objectively I think the position is simply bad for white.
