Nobody answered about whether or not black has reached a similar position as the hyper-modern defense here...

I'm assuming you mean just the Modern Defense, 1...g6. In that case, it's somewhat doubtful that you'd reach exactly this postion, but it is possible to reach a position with similar pawn structures, for instance:

1. e4 g6 2. d4 Bg7 3. Nc3 d6 4. Be3 a6 5. Qd2 Nd7, when Black will play ...c5 next move, and if allowed, ...cxd4.

Nc6 for me too - o-o can get a bit messy if white wants to be a hacker and play something like g4 immediately (although with a team of us working on it, he might not end up crushing us)
