I like to play one of the Indians as black, but struggle against white when white pushes 3+ pawns into the centre.
I know you need to make a pawn break into the centre, but my question is, how do you know how to time this? And can't your opponent just push a pawn past your offered pawn, and so completely tie up the centre?
Here's an example (me as white, this time) where my opponent was a little slow in contesting the centre with a pawn, and paid the price, big time because I was able to completely close down the king side, and render 3 of his pieces useless. Game 1556210 I've had similar things happen to me.
Cheers,

That's a misplayed pirc/austrian attack by black.
Black typically plays c5/e6:
1. e4 d6 2. d4 Ng8f6 3. Nb1c3 g6 4. f4 Bf8g7 5. Ng1f3 c5 6.d5 O-O 7.Bd3 e6 8.cxe6 fxe6
White can choose a very sharp line instead, in which case black can respond aggressively:
1. e4 d6 2. d4 Ng8f6 3. Nb1c3 g6 4. f4 Bf8g7 5. Ng1f3 c5 6. Bf1b5 Bc8d7 7. Bb5xd7 Nf6xd7 8. d5 b5 9. Nc3xb5 Qd8a5 10. Nb5c3 Bg7xc3 11. bxc3 Qa5xc3
If black is afraid of the above or similar lines, he shouldn't play the pirc.
I played against a 4 pawn attack KID in this game.
Game 1213464
( I saw then forgot about 43....d3 as a better move that would win more easily)
