ah true. 10 e5 was the problem plain and simple. you were lost at 20. still Rd1...I would sacrifice the bishop to maintain the pawns. 16 Nd2 screwed the bishop.

IMO, the mess was not 10.e5 but 5.Qb3
I thought it looked awkward as well, until I found over 1000 games employing 5.Qb3; it seems it's the most popular and most successful in that situation.

to my major supprise, Crafty thinks the major blunder was 21. Bxd5 (4-5 sec a move) before that, the eval was around -0.3

its odd, I would of put a lot of monney on saying black was MUCH better.

then he could play b4, certainly would've weakened e4 pawn.

if b4 11.Na4 and if possible Nc5, Be3 to protect the d-pawn and Rc1 to control the semi-open c-file. The Q will have to be at c2 to defend the e-pawn.

I think after I played 10.e5 Black is better.

Me too. I just don't like move 5 compared to e3 and that would've been a hard game for me.

It's incredible that a 1900 player could miss that mate...twice!
