hi
i have seen one day, that the final position of a game can be emailed to me in PNG format.
i wondered if the hole game, 1 e4 e5 2Cf3 Cf6 etc... can be emailed as a PNG game, also. I would like to analyse some games i have lost, off connection.
i do not know a lot about PNG
i think it is an universal format for ghess games
what shall i do with a PNG game, for example i have copyed/pasted in a .txt file, the "immortal game" that is given in the FAQ of redhotpawn.
but my two chess software on my mac "sigma chess" and "chess", do not want to open the .txt file
so i resume:

1) how to b eemailed one game i habve played, in PNG format
2) how to use this mail in order to read it with every chess software ?

thanks

PGN is nothing more that a way to store information about played games. It contains informations like players names, their ELO rating and the date and event of the match. You just copy that text and paste it in any PGN viewer (usually via clicking EDIT - paste)

I do not know what programs are compactible with mac. For the windows the well known free one is "chesspad".

Google something like PGN mac viewer

If you give the text file a file extension of .pgn I think your software should be able to read it.

Usually you even do not have to do that

copy paste does the trick in every chess viewer I know.

Yes, copying and pasting from the Windows clipboard (don't know what it's called in MACland) is often a feature of chess programs, but I was just keeping it simple for him.

Portable Game Notation,PGN not png. It's important to get it right if you want to view it with software.
To view it with any chess software you either do as madrook said or you open your textfile, copy the pgn and paste it into the viewer.

ok thank very much.

i am so stupid i had used the image extension (.png) instead of (.pgn)
now it works very well with sigma chess for example, but i must copy paste only what is between

not the

tehmselves

now, i have not found yet the answer to this question: how can i get the (.pgn) historic of a game i have played on redhotpawn ??

Open the game in question -> game history(3rd on top) -> get pgn of this game(5th beside the board).

edit: or have your games emailed as bakunin said 🙂

Isn't PNG a graphics format for images that has nothing to do with chess?

That's what I thought. Man, I really hate it when I screw up a thread title in that way--it's sooo hard to correct.
