promotion pawn

I am about to reach f8 [white] with my pawn, how can I change a pawn into a queen? Admit, and thereafter you get the opportunity to choose? Is that how it works?

After you move your pawn to the last row, hit submit, and an option appears for you to choose what piece to promote to.

From a 1700+ player with over 3700 moves to their name. Bizarre 😲

Perhaps bizarre, but after all thes moves is this the first time that I reach the bottom line with my pawn!

Previously he had been playing players who knew when to resign.

Thanks for your remarks and suggestions. ofcourse I know the rules what happeens when a pawn reaches the other end of the board, but I didn't know how it works here. Wittywonka told me exactly what I wanted to know: thanks!
