I have never understood why it is not legal to promote a pawn to a king. It adds a new dynamic to the game, although it would only be advantageous to under(over?)promote to king in rare cases, such as when your king is about to get checkmated or in other special positions such as the one below:
white to move 1. f8=K! draw
can anyone compose a position where underpromotion to a king is necessary to win, and it's not because your other king is about to get checkmated?

Seriously why are you posting so many pointless threads?
after switching to correspondence school (and corresponce chess!) I have a lot of time on my hands, as it takes about 2 hours a week to complete everything school related. I like to play chess, I'm taking piano lessons, (I just started) and I enjoy doing a host of other things (ie mountain bike riding, running, etc) but when I'm waiting for my opponents moves I love to post stuff in the forums (although you could say my mind wanders a bit🙄) If people are offended/annoyed I could stop, it's not like I don't have anything else to do. You have to admit other people make somke rediculous threads, ie Devastating knight finishing sequences, Gary's Gay Lovers, ways to frustrate/annoy OTB opponants... (maybe everyone else's combined equals all my posts) got to go, it's my move.

Originally posted by bobbob1056thDon't worry about it, it's just the copious numbers of new threads. Keep it all the random stuff in one thread and post as much as you like - it just makes finding other threads easier, I'll even look at it every now and again. If you come up with anything specific post it in an existing thread or create a new one, people will be more likely to pay attention when you have something to say rather than just want to say something. The gnuchess opening book thing was vaguely interesting but should have been in the same thread as all the other stuff about Damiano's opening - unlucky for Damiano to get the opening named after him after he'd proved it was useless...
after switching to correspondence school [....] got to go, it's my move.
I'd be happy to demonstrate it:
1. b4 Kd8 2. Nb1 Kc8 3. Qa2 Kb8 4. Na3 Kc8 5. Q4b3 Kd8 6. Qaa4 Kc8 7. Qbb1
Kb8 8. Q4b3 Kc8 9. Ke3 Kb8 10. Ba1 Kc8 11. Kd4 Kb8 12. Kc3 Kc8 13. Kb2 Kb8
14. Ba4 Ka7 15. b5 Kb6 16. Nc1 Ka5 17. Bd3 b6 18. Rb4 c6 19. c4 c5 20. Bc2
e5 21. Rc3 d6 22. Bde4 d5 23. Bd1 d4 24. Bec2 e4 25. d3 e3
its strange the computer doesn't regaurd this as stalemate, as well as other positions where all the pieces are on the board.
