We'll have to wait for the Black Mob to make a move first... 🙂

OK, the Black Mob has moved it's Knight to f4, creating this PGN:

[Event "Challenge"]
[Site "http://www.redhotpawn.com"]
[Date "2004.04.03"]
[Round "?"]
[White "crythias"]
[Black "Phlabibit"]
[Result "*"]
[GameId "466287"]

1. e4 e5 2. f4 d5 3. d4 dxe4 4. fxe5 c5 5. d5 Nb8d7 6. e6 fxe6 7. dxe6 Nd7b6
8. Qd1h5 g6 9. Bf1b5 Nb6d7 10. exd7 Bc8xd7 11. Bb5xd7 Qd8xd7 12. Qh5e5 Ng8e7
13. Qe5xh8 O-O-O 14. Nb1d2 e3 15. Qh8c3 Ne7d5 16. Qc3d3 Qd7e6 17. Nd2c4 Nd5f4 *

I expected b4, but I guess this one is OK as well...

Now, what to do next? I'd say 18.Qf1, we haven't got much other options, in the Black Strategy thread (they won't read this thread, so they won't find out I looked! 😵), they were talking about 18.Qxe3? and 18.Qc3?, both fail after Nxg2+.

Any other thoughts?

No, you won't! 😉

Anyway, they are thinking we are going to play Qc3, we won't, it's a terrible move and it will end in a Black victory!

So, Qf1 it is then?

What's wrong with Bxe3 ? Except it pegs the king. Black won't sac Q for that piece, and the knight on F3 can't go too many places. IF

19. Bxe3, most likely(?) something like Nd5 and we can sac the bishop (and knight)....

Moving us to this:
[Event "Challenge"]
[Site "http://www.redhotpawn.com"]
[Date "2004.04.03"]
[Round "?"]
[White "crythias"]
[Black "Phlabibit"]

1. e4 e5 2. f4 d5 3. d4 dxe4 4. fxe5 c5 5. d5 Nd7 6. e6 fxe6 7. dxe6 Nb6 8.
Qh5+ g6 9. Bb5+ Nd7 10. exd7+ Bxd7 11. Bxd7+ Qxd7 12. Qe5+ Ne7 13. Qxh8
O-O-O 14. Nd2 e3 15. Qc3 Nd5 16. Qd3 Qe6 17. Nc4 Nf4 18. Qf1 Bh6
{
begin here
}
19. Bxe3 Nd5 20. O-O-O Nxe3 21. Nxe3 Qxe3+ 22. Kb1

It's an icky place to be, but White could still be salvageable. Any other thoughts?

I'd say go for 19.g3, I'm not going to give lines, as the Black Spies are watching...

19.Ne2 woulg give Black more attacking chances after 19..Qxc4 20.Nxf4 Qd4... I don't think we want that.

g3 gives a possibility of Qd5... I know you don't want lines, but Qd5 is deadly. Oh.. 🙂 There is hope..., but is it worth sacrificing the rook?

No, it ain't. Message me with what you think, after 19..Qd5, I would just take the pawn with Nxe3 and win 2 pieces against a Rook!
