If this database was freely distributed to other players, would anybody have any issues with this? For example, a pla ...[text shortened]... dable by the latest Chessbase Light, but it's not yet 100% PGN standard.

Any concerns?
Isn't gamesexplorer supposed to do this.

Its a great deal of use but an update would be useful.

Nuff time wasted, do the following :-

- save the games in cbv (compressed chessbase format) at a domain without spaces e.g. http://www.example.com/games.cbv
- whistle or tell us that its there

What's your problem??

1. Download zip-file
2. Un-zip the file and save it on your computer (uncompressed filename is rhpGames_v1.pgn)
3. Open database from within Chessbase or whatever database software you use. Voilà!

This works for me and apparently for others as well

Replying to various...

>> if you put this database in fritz you could create your own "rating system"

Interesting. I've not looked at this. By-the-way, anyone is free to take my initial DB; manipulate it (e.g. for improved rating data if possible); and then share the improved version (via my same host site if need be).

>> Isn't gamesexplorer supposed to do this.

Yeah, the gamesexplorer is ideal for most purposes. The DB is just another minor possibility for those who want to search offline or want to do an advanced search that is supported by, e.g., Chessbase. For example, searches based on material or pawn structure.

>> you say you plan to put more on

Yes. I'll try for the top 200 within the next week.

Database for the top 160 RHP players can now be found at the same link:

http://groups.google.co.uk/group/rhp-games-download/files

- file "rhpGames_top160" (zipped PGN, about 7 Mb size)
- 50 000 games based on RHP's top 160 players

Any issues, please let me know. Known issue: only have rating data for the last 300 games of each player.
