Questions about playchess

1)Chessbase goes on and on about Kasparov's comments on the latest games at corus, and advertises live commentary by either seirawan or some fm I don't remember, vilov or lilov or something like that.

However, when I log on to playchess during the games, all I get is just the games with inaccurate clocks for players and some random kibitz comments. no kasparov, no master commentary. what am I doing wrong?

p.s: I'm not logging in as a guest, I do have an account there, but it's very new.

2)I was hoping playchess was the correct place to play slow time control games online, because at FICS, I just can't find any opponents for games longer than 30+, but I was very disappointed. It seems slow time controls just don't exist on playchess either.

are there any online groups on playchess, like STC on FICS? how am I supposed to get 1900+ opponents online for slow time controls?

It seems that everyone at chess.com wants 30+ minutes games. Not many above 1900, though.

I've seen seeks at Playchess that meet your criteria, but the longest I want to play there are 20 3 ( I prefer 16 0 for "standard" ). Even with my time preference, it can be a long wait for a game.

I generally send out a 90+0 seek, since I'm trying to improve my OTB play. That way I can actually use a board, too. They're not very quickly accepted but I usually get a game within about 5 minutes.

The only thing I've found is that very occasionally people blitz it out anyway. For giggles, check out this obvious swindle I had as black the other day where white was playing far too quickly.

didn't bedlam at least use to organize weekly 90/0 action on playchess?

and I think you need to cough up extra 'playchess money' for the GM commentary on playchess, not sure about that one though.

And it shouldn't be difficult to find the way to kibitz the Corus games, right? It's true though that the commentary chat seems to be somewhat dominated by 1300s with high rankings 😛
