When calculating ratings are the player ratings taken from when a game is started or when the game ends?

It's kinda annoying when after a long game your opponents rating has dropped by a lot. You could end up in a position where even a win would lose rating?
A rating drop after a win is only possible with provisional ratings. See FAQ in the help for how ratings are calculated.
