improvement/enjoyment , not overly worried about ratings as will often resign from a slow game

How many hours in total have you dedicated to studying chess?

lets see... about 700 days, maybe 2-4 hours a day, plus playing. 2000 hours sounds like a reasonable guess, but could be quite a lot more, it's hard to say. I often binge for 14 hours or so when I'm in the mood. but of course the longer the session, the less you actually do...

come to think of it, I've done 2-4 hours of tactics alone daily the first 1½ years.
