just curious how the rating system works. Ive won a fair amount of my games played but i see ppl with only 7 games played and are 100s of points ahead of me. So far im 18-3-1. and im rated 1381. i see guys who are 7-3 and yet are 200 points over me. Why is this?

Of course if you can win against a stronger player your rating will gradually improve. Winning against those with similar rating as yours will also improve your rating, but the margin of increase will be smaller. However, when you start playing here, you are subject to provisional ratings first. I believe the first 20 games.
