Hey everyone,
I'm after some recommendations for endgame books. My very small chess library consists of Silman's "How to Reassess Your Chess" (& workbook), Sierawan's "Winning Chess Openings", and MCO-14. I found the Silman book very helpful, and think it has improved my game noticably, so I was interested in an endgame book by him, entitled something like "Endgames move by move"... unfortunately, it's apparently out of print, and the intarweb can't find me a copy for less than us$100, which is a bit more than I'm budgeting (especially as I've already ordered that huge Polgar exercise book).
So, with all that in mind, can anyone recommed me a good book on endgames, ideally with an emphasis on winning won games, and salvaging draws (which I truly suck at). I gather Silman has one in the pipeline, but I'm messing up endgames in the here-and-now, so something available now would be good.
(I'm also amenable to suggestions of training CDs/DVDs/software for endgames)..

Dvoretsky 'End Game Manual'
Available as a book OR as a cd which is viewable in chessbase or any chessbase software (like fritz or hiarcs, etc...)
I have both! The cd is great cos you don't have to spend any time muddling around with the pieces. You can also save your own analysis which is just orgasmic! 😀
All, yes ALL the critical positions. Starts with the opposition and goes through the lot! Once this has been studied all that remains is novelty positions that occur rarely. Obviously end game is a massive subject but this book covers a shet load of it, essential reading. Go buy! 😀

winning chess endings by yasser seirwan... u know exactly how good his books can be since u have winning chess tactics...it is an endgame book however so it is a bit dry.... Pandolfine endgame course is really good for endgame studies..he has one study per page with a big diagram.. really, really easy to read.
Winning won games...they have an article on chesscafe.com in the archives under novice nook i believe.. Trade off the pieces and stop all counter play, and be extremely careful of u're opponents threats..thats when he is the most furious trying to get back into the game..

Also, I've heard good things about Fine's Basic Chess Endings.
