Thanks to a beer and brandy (*) induced mouse-slip on playchess.com, I have at last found a refutation of that most troublesome of Black defences, the Sicilain:

I have a 100% record with it so far this evening.

"Quite bizarre is 3.g4?! e6 4.Bg2 h5!? (quiter moves aimed at exploiting the weak squares f4 and h4 should be considered)
5.gxh5 Nf6 6.d3 Rxh5 7.Nge2 d5 8.Ng3 Rh8 9.Bg5 with reasonable chances, Hort-Kindermann, Bath 1983."

first of all it is very flexible. it gives the white coloured bishop two opportunuties. it also claims an edge on the kingside, and initiates an attack, putting black right on his shoes, where he has lost precious tempi trying to grab some irrelevant space on the queenside.

Why is it "flexible"? I would bring up a reversed anti Keres Attack with the standard (spread the word!) Scheveningen formation with the black pawns on h3, e6 and d6 and them dark Horsies on c6 and f6 and all, and then I would enjoy a game full of machineries

You can murder people with the Smith-Morra, especially if they aren't prepared for it.
