When I get beat and someone says"gg", I normally reply with "gaad".😀

"gg" and/or "well played" if I lose and "thank you for the game" if I win.

Should I ever lose to Mark Adkins I'll knock the dust of my old thesaurus to find something with more letters in it.

Some time ago I was putting away the Scrabble box after a game, stubbed my toe on a chair as I crossed the room, and spilled the letter tiles all over the floor. Inexplicably, if viewed from the proper angle, they read: "Aren't you surprised". A true story.

I just played a blitz game and said Hi Gl, and was replied to with "are you gay?" This guy was 900, so I just thought why should I bother?
Should I name the person for avoidance?

What does "gaad" mean"?

The first time I encountered the "gg" was after a good game (!) to an superior player. I won because I surprised him with a mating (or near mating) move.
The "gg" I recieved I thought was the sound from the teeth of someone biting the grass. Or some guttural sound from anyone dying in despare ofer his fresh lethal misstake.
I was wrong.

My idea of having a glossary over these kind of expressions and abbreviations put in the FAQ is not so bad... Not all of us are native English speaking.

I just played that idiot nigel short and he was stupid. I said hello, he said i'm gonna whip you, and as soon as my position was better he abandoned the game! I think we should tar and feather him.

dude, sometimes, it's not always to be rude.
for example:
I was blitzing a guy who played 1. d6
I say, crap, I hate the Pirc
he says "me too"
so I guess it all depends on how you view the situation.

In a non rated game I generaly offer a draw when playing a weaker opponent. When I win fine. When I lose I am too upset and or angry to be a nice loser. It is nice to lose to a player who is a polite winner and to play a polite loser.
