Let's say, the white pawn on d6 with a black pawn on e3 and solidly protected white pawn on e5. Worth the rook for a minor piece?

It's too hard to visualize/understand what you're trying to say here, Kunsoo. Maybe it'd help if you posted the fen for this game?

It was an offline game from years ago and it didn't actually happen because I wimped out and kept the rook, and the game was eventually drawn. I don't remember all the details of the position, but I can dig up the score sheet.

But I would have had a passed pawn. I just wasn't sure I was going to be left with the power to force the pawn home. It was a closed game, which probably would have opened up with a series of exchanges.

My weenieness in that game has haunted me ever since, because it was pretty much a certain draw otherwise.

I'll post a game related to what you're saying when it's finished.
