A number of opening repertoire books recommend the Scandinavian because there aren't huge chunks of theory to remember. You might want to try one or both of the following:
"An Opening Repertoire for the Attacking Player, 2nd ed.", by GM Keene and IM Levy. (Recommends 1 e4 d5 2 ed Nf6 for Black.)
"Ideas Behind the Modern Chess Openings: Black" by IM Gary Lane (Recommends 1 e4 d5 2 ed Qd5 3 Nc3 Qd6 for Black.)

it was absolutely horrible play on my part...
my worst game in the past two years:
i made way too many pointless moves in the opening... moving the same piece more than once without any justification...
it was just terrible...
i think i'll blame it on the fact that it was early, and i didnt get much any sleep the night before...
oh well, this opening is boring, as both players get semi open files, and most ameatures like me can't taske any kind of advantage of the situations that arise...
not that black gets any easier of a time of course...

Anand thought enough of this defense to use it in his championship match vs. Kasparov. A couple of years ago I started to use it, though I prefer 2. ..... Nf6.
3.Nc3 is obvious & best I think then 3...Qa5 can be surprisingly troublesome for white.
I'd never want to play the center-counter against a stronger or similar rated player though. If I had to I'd definately go 2...Nf6

i couldn't ever take any good advantage...
it's one of the best openings with practically no book-theory on it
The Scandinavian Defense is quite good. I think it's more than playable. If white doesn't know what he's doing, then black equalizes quite easily. Even if white knows the lines, black isn't in serious trouble. Ok, white probaly gets more of an advantage then against Sicilian Najdorf or smilar "high maintenance" defenses, but what do you expect?
Check out GM Sergey Tiviakov's games with the Scandinavian Defense.
His pet line is:
1. e4 d5
2. exd5 Qxd5
3. Nc3 Qd6
He does well with it too. Ok, Peter Svidler beat him in Corus ( Wijk aan Zee) 2007, but he won with it against Gata Kamsky in Corus 2006. So it holds up against world class players. Try it out.
