in Game 8475486 I was thinking of trying this... I wasn't even aware something like this had been done before.

Too bad I didn't see a way in with my king. Maybe somebody else can find a way?

here is a pretty absurd example of my friend Zonagrad making a checkmate with a king move 🙂

Pretty sloppy play
Tell your friend Zonograd that here...

He missed 11 mates in one.

Every Queen and the Rook can give at least one mate in one.
The f3 Queen can give 4 different mates.

Checks all Checks 🙂

I like White's 29th and 30th moves to block the h-file stopping Rh1 mate.

And finally TimmyBX.

It's 12 missed mates. 🙂
The f3 Queen can give 5 mates.
(missed Qf8 mate - shocking. Mind you I'm used to just looking for one mate.)
Any advance on 12?

lol - he was purposely trying to mate his opponent with a King move - don't ask me why 🙂 When I saw this thread, it reminded me of that game, and I just found it this morning.

And, At least I am not claiming I have a gf - which I don't 😉

That is kind of a neat idea for a puzzle or forum topic (or blog post in your case) - how many mates in one are in this position or what position from a real game has the most mates in one.

Took me a second to see how the Queen on f2 can mate in one. Nice!

Yeah Fritz liked that 29th move - gave zonagrad an exclam when I ran a "full analysis" on the game.
