Along the same lines as the Discovered Mate thead; post any smothered mates you have had. I am about to get my first one, I'll post the link when it is finished, but I'm curious to see if there are any really nice ones out there. I'm a bit bias because I think mine is awesomely pretty.
I had a Quick look through your Games and found this one....
Game 1789888
I know you shouldn't comment on games in progress, but 2 ply from mate its as good as finished....
Indeed, its smothered mate....and it does look pretty....
BUT: -
after move 22. Nh7 you had smothered mate with Ng6#
which of course means your Queen-sac was unecessary....
infact, all it did was make the game go on longer than it needed too....so when you think like that, the 'beauty' in the Queen sac is somewhat diminished...
unless of course, I found the wrong game??
Originally posted by ShinidokiNo you didn't find the wrong game. But Ng6# wouldn't have been a smothered mate; unless I am missing something or have the definition wrong.

why do people go through other peoples games?
have they nothing better to do. like play a game, do some tactics work maybe or at least look through a game which they might learn something from. ect. ect....

And trev 33...
I do it because I can.....
You can look through someones games to get a "feel" for the strength and style of your oppenant, which can give you and idea of what your up against....
And I completly disagree with your next claim.....I can learn things from going through the games of similiar strength players....
afterall, Going through as Kasparov vs. Krammik game often leaves you learning nothing, because you can't understand for the life of you why a5 was better than Nxh6....the tactics are too complex for me to grasp....
BUT a game by a 1900, I can often follow and with thought and consideration, can understand, Unlike the mighty kasparov...

Not one of mine, but I noticed this while I was playing the person in question in another game. I thought it was a lovely finish.
Game 1521275
Had one for the first time today luckily on PlayChess after a very crappy game.

I was denied the mate by an entirely reasonable resignation, and there's a fair bit of, ahem, optimistic play in the midgame, but here's one I liked the ending of:
