You get an email telling you. If you don't want to resubscribe there's a link in the email.

You will be unable to start any more games (until you get below 6) or join any tournaments. After long enough your profile picture and avatar will be removed as well.

You can finish all the games you have started, but will be unable to start new game until you are under the 6 game limit
