"Sometimes" is the key word here. Going for what appears to be the simplest, you have to look deeper into the move to see if it is sound. It then becomes a lot more complicated. Therefore, the hard bit is knowing when those times are. 🙂

True.

This pool would be more interesting if you would replace "Sometimes" with "Most of the times"

the pool is more effective with water in it.
the poll would be better with more restrictive verbage.

and the simplest move is always simple to make.

I think when you're in front material-wise then the simplest move is, in practical terms always the best move.
There's no point complicating things when you're ahead, unless you're playing fast time controls.

What if you're playing someone who plays like Casablanca if you keep things simple but gets confused and loses material if you make things complex? And what if you obtained the material gain you refer to by means of complexity?

I definitely agree with the 'simplicity while ahead' concept. If we interpret 'simple moves' as sticking to your prinicples. For e.g. swapping material when you are ahead, not rushing, pawn pinching or trying to be too smart.

Well, there's not much of a statement here, actually. Sometimes works for just about anything. Very few things would qualify for "false" if you ask "sometimes".

I think you're trying to state some kind of analog to Occam's Razor (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s_razor ), correct?

How about: "Keep It Simple Stupid"

In that case, I'd try to get out of there as quickly as possible - the Nazis are hot on your tail.

... This is a question with no definite answer, a stupid answer.

Sometimes the sky is blue, correct?

But sometimes not.

Sometimes someone does something stupid

But sometimes not.

Sometimes gives too much moveable space. A answer of true means NOTHING
