    Dewi is on 3/3:

Sea Devil, the now banned engine user from this site, is on 2/3 in the open and is playing E Michael White in round 4. White is a very strong player and I predict that he will make mincemeat of Sea Devil.

I think that you are confusing your Whites. EM ...[text shortened]... beaten his son in the past. If Sea Devil is L Davis then he is 150 points stronger than this White

Meanwhile, at the Hastings Congress, the 52-year old Welsh player, Rayner has earned his first IM norm. Defeated GM Mark Hebden & IM Jack Rudd; draws with GM Simon Williams, GM Glenn Flear & IM Prosviriakov (US). Well done to him!

I don't know of Rayner (until now, that is), but I certainly know of the other three, and Rayner is certainly having an awesome result!

What a "feel good" story. It gives us all hope!

Yes, you're correct, I'm getting my Whites mixed up. It's the younger one who is the strong player.

I've played Francis Raynor several times and always felt he was about the same strength as me, although I never managed to beat him! (I think he's beaten me once and we have drawn twice). His performance at Hastings was absolutely fantastic - I wonder if he can get the other two IM norms he needs and then reach the required rating?
