does anyone seggest anything aganst this 1.e4 a6 2.d4 h6
By the way, as a practitioner of the St George, I feel obliged to point out that h6 does not figure in that particular opening, b5 is usually played instead.

St.George is not too bad for Black ....
Around 1990 MB obviously decided the St. George wasn't rubbish enough as it was started playing it a tempo down i.e. with
1. ... h6
2. ... a6
3. ... b5
I saw him get a draw with it against Danny King at the British Championships one year.
I'm sure it's fully playable at club level. I'm equally sure I don't want to play it.
Originally posted by wittywonkaIM Michael Basman once wrote a booklet that I own and read called "The Creepy Crawley." The first three moves are 1...a6 2...h6 and 3...c5. The book and the opening are amusing, but probably, of course, not "correct."
I'd be happy to play just about anyone in a game with that...
1. e4 a6
2. d4 h6 +/=
Simple development should lead white into a very comfortable middlegame.

but that game I mentioned a bit earlier between Danny King and Mike Basman:-
I forgot to mention Danny King is a Grand Master.
If Black can draw against a GM with these moves it's obviously not that bad
