Could someone with a greater intelect than mine (i.e. just about anyone) please take a look at game 798669 and tell me why it ended in stalemate.

As far as I can tell, I would have got checkmate in the next 4-5 moves.

Because it's black to move,he is not in check,and has no legal moves = stalemate

You played dubious Kf6...and causing stalemate position. Care is needed when opponent has only king left.

Ah I see.
By trying to trap him, I left no option for a legal move.
I'll remember that in future.

Arrrgh!

I HATE it when that happens! Especially if you end up losing the match, and knowing that you COULD have won, if you had just SEEN the mate move...frustrating.
