There seems to be a lot of sub 1800 players on this site polluting the fora with their drivel (1.d4 or 1.e4 ?) and blitz games. Should there not be a cull a very 6 months to get rid of them?

Then when all members are 1800+ we can start getting rid of the sub 2000's so that we can begin to have a really decent chess site.

Excellent idea, but I'm not sure you're going far enough. I've seen a few of the games going on around here and they're simply cluttered with pawns, way more than should be necessary. If you want a really good site, you could do without all the pawns.

Why does the board have to be square? It would be cool if chess were less...square...

Aren't we far enough into the future that we should be thinking in a third dimension?

How about a square hole in the middle of the board.

Just cut out the squares d4,d5,e4 and e5.

The square hole could a wormhole.
If you jump into the worm hole you can then place your piece
onto any square on the board.

White to play and mate in one.



1.Ne4 (into the wormhole)



Na6 mate.

This can lead to postions like this.



1.Re4 (into the wormhole) Re8+ not checkmate
because Black can play 1...Be5 (into the wormhole) Bf8.

1.Ke4 (into the wormhole) Ka5



Stalemate next move.
