1. keep a ladder with the positions of each player visible to all.
2. play other schools, if only in an informal way.
3. play one correspondence game with another school, accepting input from all
4. divide group up into two teams. everybody plays one move on a board, then goes on to the next. not playing two moves in a row on one board.
5. invite a good player to give a simul, giving away prizes to any who win or simply the best game
6. play one minute games in a tournament. always fun to see pieces flying around
