I have the State tournament for high school coming up soon. I'm playing board 1 for the first time in a major tournament. Any advice as to what i should expect?

Mind you, I have to play board 1 in a national league team this weekend and I have been scraping draws and wins from bad positions for several weeks now - I think getting bad positions against the guys I will be playing will be the end of my unbeaten streak for sure.

cool! im in hs as well but no team..
id say kids our age are going to rely on opening theory move and can be psyched out more as well..
maybe try a unique opening? e3, Nc3 then b3 could be a nice setup..

well i was hoping on a strong opening to give myself a good position and then hold out any advantage i can get in the middle game and convert it to a win
