If you send me a couple of sample pages in WORD format.
I can post it on the Corner and you can link to there.

Dave Goddard round today to sort out fridge problem.

Put him onto your book and believe he going to order a copy soon.
Would not do that to a good friend if I did not think it was a good book.
Which it is. Entert ...[text shortened]... o the sheep and shift their grades
up by 10 points, but set them back, chess wise, 10 years.
Cheers for that Greenpawn/MrHand-some good ideas. Already thought about the demo/lecture idea, possibly doing a simul as well?! Unfortunately i didn't have the time to organise it all for the book coming out.

Good luck with your book Greenpawn - I know you have a lot of 'fans' with your website, so i'm sure it'll do well!

Your right about the opening books - apart from Ward's 'Winning with the Dragon' books, I can't see a single openings book on my shelves from where I'm sitting - dozens of 'Best Games' collections though! Fischer/Korchnoi/Kasparov/Shirov/Nunn (and The Complete Art ofWar by Sun Tzu & Sun Pin!).

I have loads of opening books all bar two bought 2nd hand.

I buy them to stop them from falling into the wrong hands.

Now and then I'll use one if someone has sent in a game
with a an opening I don't play and there is a trick onboard.

I have over 20 books on opening traps and short games. (2 on endings.)

I have 1 book on endgames (hidden inside a girlie mag to avoid the embarrassment of anyone seeing it!)

Although in fear of incurring the wrath of Squelchbelch for bumping this thread, anyone who wants to preview a short sample of 'Streetfighting Chess' can do so by clicking on 'download sample pages' at the New in Chess website.

    Hi S.F.
Notice GM Paul Motwani gave your book an excellent review
    in The Scotsman (3oth August).

Did you see it? and have you seen any other reviews?

yes, thanks Greenpawn- Paul e-mailed me the original review to see if the editors/subs had cut it to pieces! They chopped a few bits, but it was still very good : )

I'm hoping to see reviews soon in Chess Today (GM Jacob Aagaard) and possibly The Herald (and/or New In Chess with a bit of luck) by GM Jonathan Rowson.

It's really weird knowing that some of the strongest players in the country (well, my country) are reading my book?! It doesn't seem right somehow!
