well played undoubtedly yet i still find the Bxf7 a very boring line at times. Nxf7 and one slip up from either side will lose very quickly

Not really.
Ask Dan Heisman - he spent 2000 hours on it (from 4...Bc5!?) with Fritz & was utterly baffled!
Basically though, after 5.Bxf7+!? White usually has a better play whereas 5.Nxf7?! gives Black the chance to counter-attack straight away with 5...Bxf2+! 6.Kxf2 Nxe4+ and it's anyone's game.

Not at all.
Overall it's unclear which is something entirely different in openings, especially for Black.
