I just finished playing and looking through a 5 min blitz game that I played on ICC. I ended up winning out of time trouble/luck, but had a few tactical shots. There were a few instances where I could've finished the game much earlier, but I completely missed them. Also, I played a few large sacs, so I was really hoping that you guys would help me analyze whether or not these sacs/tactics are actually sound or not. I've looked through, but haven't found any problems, but they seem a bit crazy.

Here's some Fritz analysis interspersed with my comments:

Not bad for a blitz game...

I love games like that. Complete with ebb and flow. Made all the better by someone like SG pointing out how both players could have capitalized earlier. Better than I go do in Blitz though, good effort πŸ˜‰

At move 20 the game looked very ...Colle-esque. Hmmmmmm.

I suppose we all play king and pawn endings, and everything else transposes!

Great! Thanks everybody, especially SG.

And of course, h3 courtesy of GP πŸ˜€.

One question I have, why didn't black take the pawn on move 4? There was no quick attack that would have refuted it, for instance, if the queen went to c2, the knight just goes back home and white is down a critical center pawn. Don't understand that one. It also sat there for several moves, like it was a poisoned pawn but I don't see the poison.

Hi Rangeblast.

You have to read Thread 131070 again.

I said setting the trap with 4.Be2 instead on 4...h3 was better
because if Black fails to fall for the trap (and loads have) then the
position can transpose into an Advanced French type position and
Rook lift ideas to h3 are nipped because there is a pawn on h3.
4.Be2 develops a piece. 4.h3 weakens g3.

But I'll let you off....This time.
