I used to run into that a lot, and still do sometimes, but find that advise from the masters makes these situations fewer. Slow down, consistent study, look at the whole board before moving etc.

When you find a good move, wait, don’t play it, keep looking, you might find a better one. Lasker said that, or words to that effect.

The British GM Danny Gormally goes one step further - he often acts out making his move without actually touching the piece. It's a very strange sight if you haven't seen him do it before. At first I thought he was doing it to distract his opponent, but then realised it was intended to catch those "oh no, what have I done?" moves.
