Seeing as you were unimpressed by my other chess computer thread. I have thought of you over 2000 players, or anyone who wants the best! 🙂

Here you are; It costs £803! but you can get it for less... The computers is the samsung galaxy s4 apparently at 1.9ghz its the fastest phone. Add fritz / shredder and you should be at 2700 elo i'd guess.

It comes with a DGT board too - but robbie the king has a five pointed star not a cross!

I was looking for a site to tell me, pocket fritz went into a tournament - lost to Adams, a draw with Leko who is 2737 so... http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1170273

You can have one of these for 3000 Eu - but it would be funny if a samsung galaxy could beat it and it might,

If a strong comp is what you want, go with a desktop comp with a 3 GHz, 4/6 core processor. It would be cheaper as well as stronger.

seeing as i'm promting chess sets 🙂

a few nices ones on here
    http://www.chessmazeinternational.com/

more of a grain in the wood then the ones on chessbaron, but the chessbaron ones seem very well priced. I think you could buy one and sell it for twice the price on ebay with a 'creative' write up - they look good!

I must say, gloves off, the arrogance of chess players who think computers rubbish astounds me - my £10 one at 2min per move would be graded higher then you would like to think on here.

I went to Holland a while back and found a chess café - I was very stoned but a kind dutch guy gave me a game and won very easily, looked at me like a bit of a fool, I was 🙂 but I asked him if he liked computers and he said 'no they are rubbish' and I briefly looked at him like an idiot - rubbish are you mad? didn't say that just smiled. But it amazes me how people think they can out calc a calculator - tricking a chess computer with opening tricks is not the same as beating one in an open game. Very few can...

There was a fun thread on here where a guy tried to give 'one of those endgames that a machine can't play worth beans'. And for humans it was supposed to be an easy win. Only trouble was, it turned out not to be easy at all. Then a bunch of people started analyzing and googling it. Turned out that it really was only a draw and the machine was right all along. 😛
