A picture of my green pawn.

Then it’s all about a Lone Bishop v Two Rooks and the Bishop winning
with a whole bucket load (actually it’s 6 ) of Red Hot Pawn examples.
In one of the games the lone Bishop gave itself up for tripled pawns.

Can a Rook catch the f7 pawn. (Black failed to find it and lost.)

In the on-but-last game, why did lstcyr resign? Surely, with the white pawns so far advanced and the king at hand, that can be held?

Hi Shallow-Blue

Actually that is correct. It looks very much like a draw now I play it out
for a few obvious moves. Ka4 BxR and b5+

So it was a double blunder by White. (and one by me!)
Though a couple of times I've just resigned when I've made silly move
in a won game when I possibly could have played on.
Good spot. (I won't add anything to the blog - others can see if they spot it as well.)

I've recently made loads of silly moves in my games here and it's been creeping
into the blog. TBH I never even suspect a draw - that, for me, is bad. It must be old age.
I may have to consider calling it a day.

A pity, I like the blog as it's a good hobby, keeps me going and some seem to enjoy it.
Not too sure what I'd else. I do.

Maybe it's run it's course. I retired 'Chandler Cornered' on number 400 and this
was my 385th. Another 15 and I suppose a then it's a nursing home.

Hi Geoff,

If you hang up your spurs it would be a shame to the chess community, at least on here.
I'm certain that there are players who are not members on here,
don't play chess on here,
but regularly read your blogs.

It's certainly contributed to my own chess development, so personally, I thank you.
Russ should give you commission!

Maybe a complete change of format.
(No more blunder fests (else it will be all my games 😀 )

I enjoy this one better than 'The Corner' because I have access to all the games.
Getting actually OTB played by local players was always a pain.

Also 'The Corner' use to get me into trouble as people became techy if I showed
the games they lost and some of my jokes were taken the wrong way.

(once I had to apologise because I had got it wrong - I blasted someone's game.
Completely unknown to me it was 9 year old girls game - OOPS! but it was not
intentionally, I had no idea. All I had was a name. I got flak for that.)

Here everyone has a nik and most do not mind at all. One or two over the 12
years have sent a 'why pick on me' PM. I always reply I do not make the games up.

I was told by someone not a member here that I do make up the games.
'Nobody plays that bad!' I had to give him a link and then told him
that the majority are home and casual players often playing 20-30 games
at once so leave them alone.

Only one joke here has backfired - in fact, I still see it as funny and think the person
concerned may have overreacted. But what can you do. I'll never please everyone.

I wouldn't, if I were you. I myself am a bad player - considerably worse than you are - but one of my strengths is not believing that a position is lost yet.

At my level, I'm right, too: if the position is only probably lost, my opponent - as much of a Patzer as I am - is likely to blunder something back, so I'll have a chance or two further on in the game. And that refusal to grant a Grandmaster draw, let alone a Grandmaster win, has given me more than one point against players who were a hundred Elo points, but zero brazen balls, above me.

So, that's probably just my innate scepticism telling me that even if I should've lost, my opponent hasn't won yet either. It's not knowledge. It's just my refusal to give up unless I'm shown why I should.

Hi Shallow-Blue,

Of course I was putting the last blog together and playing a move here when the
game popped up, as well as replying to emails about an OTB game I had later that day.

Hi 64,

'It's certainly contributed to my own chess development, so personally, I thank you.
Russ should give you commission!'

As long s one person got something from it. But I've had fun doing it.
And I'll carry on.
But need to freshen it up without it looking like just another chess blog.
At the moment it's different from most (all!) other bogs I see. without being controversial.

The games I use are the players here games. In that way it is unique.

The only way forward is to make it more different. (watch this space -
I have an idea, it's no new, but I'll put on my own particular slant on it.).

Russ has been magnificent through this. Every time I've asked for something
he has done it for me within a few days.
