A mixture of stuff and ideas I had laying about for future blogs.
I’m having a clear out before the World Championship Match.
The usual three puzzles.
Black to play. What would you do?
White to play and checkmate in four moves.
This next one has a rather amusing back story.
Mate in two. The first move in these composed problems is never a check.
A made up game by Jonathan Mestel which appeared in a book.
I found an RHP game with the same fairly unique mating pattern.
Turns out this game is quite good and instructive so I noted it up.

For some insane reason I thought black was going up the board in puzzle 2 and the Knight would be taken on f4!
I've been looking at puzzles on liChess and they keep giving me puzzles for black, so I think that was it.
Fun puzzles š
@greenpawn34 saidNo rubbish at all in that photo of yours. Those are really nice chess sets. Do they belong to your chess club?

Hi mchill,
No that is me at the CHESS shop on Baker Street, London. I was down for the
2018 Carlsen- Caruana match. The wanted £55.00 to get in, sod that, so I spent
the money in the shop and watched the game in an internet cafe across the road
from the venue. I blogged here all about my day out the title match.
