Nezhmetdinov also made an amazing queen sacrifice against Polugaevsky, winning beautifully:-

Ok guys/gals, post your FAVOURITE Grandmaster game of all time. With any luck this thread will turn into a gold mine of Classic games. I'll start...

I originally viewed this game online with full analysis by Kasparov himself! Alas i cannot find where i saw it whi ...[text shortened]... re' the other with the prospect of homegrown analysis. A truly epic encounter!!
Enjoy. 😀[/b]

I have seen this game before actually. Whites Bd3 in the opening seems to disregard opening principle but Tal is an exception to just about every 'rule' ever invented. He is as close to a chess crook as you can get. 😵
Originally posted by idiomsI have only seen a few of Tal's games. The games I have seen looked like well played games. I find it hard to view Tal other then as a great player. Well maybe one game was a bit of a swindle. I guess one cannot play a great game all of the time.
Yes, he swindled wins right out from under his opponents noses 😀
Originally posted by gambit3it was tongue in cheek gambit3 .. Tal was a tactical genius and is my personal favourite player, on more than one occasion he turned technical losses into brilliant wins

Originally posted by gambit3I like the conclusion. Kasparov finds tactical resources that are just incredible. He actually blunders when he is near mate and Topalov rallied and almost saves himeself! If you think this game was a walk over you've obviously not looked at it in enough detail. 😉

Originally posted by idiomsDitto! I have lost count of the number of his games i have seen where you look at his position and think 'Tals losing here', then out of the blue...BANG! He finds a continuation that is so subtle and sharp, he's like a magician! The most exciting player of all time, hands down IMHO.
