Another Annderson game worth a look is the evergreen game...

As an aside, I once attended a lecture by Kaidanov where he showed a classic game. Eventually one of whites knights took on either c7 or f7 and everymove thereafter he would ask what white played, someone would suggest taking the rook. He always replied "You want ze rook, or you want ze game?". White eventually won in spectacular fasion. Does anyone have any idea what game this could be?
Finally, the Battle of Hastings (aka "Saw it, went home"😉 is another classic game aficionados should know.

That checkmate was truly impressive. That said, I have to say one thing that bothers me. Why did Kieseritzky bring his queen out so freaking early? After all, he was a chess master.
Originally posted by zebanoI absolutely adore the Evan's gambit but it never ever worked for me and still look so simple and efficient when used by GM.

Do you know if it's still very popular as an opening among GM or have we defenitely moved to safer opening times?
Originally posted by ValmoreFor awhile it was considered dead, but then none other than Kasparov revived it (briefly). Kasparov also made marvelous things happen when he played a scotch game, so I think it's still not considered GM worthy.
