Today, aside from being the first day of summer (or winter, depending on your hemisphere), is the anniversary of The Immortal Game, the classic chess match between Adolf Anderssen and Lionel Kieseritzky on June 21, 1851. The game inspired the marvelous book by David Shenk, which in turn inspired the website that brought some of us to RHP. If you enjoy good books and if you're interested in chess history, this one's for you. The paperback edition is due soon.

For those that don't have that game memorized and play it over in their minds like the average person counts sheep.
