the meran system

although the meran is a good way to go against d4 what are some other variations do you use to make pawn breakthrough? just curious just in case after i get into the middle of the opening and it doesn't work out for me after a while?

On this moment playing the Slav Defence (Meran var.)- the Dokhoian varation (a secondant of G.Kasparov). Fantastic opening, especially the decision for white in move 9. Bd2 or g5!. Complex and brain shaking variant!!
