I am new to the site. Please explain what thematic means in relation to tournement games; i.e., how it applies to the manner of application in play. Thanks to whom ever replies.

It means that the games you play are all from a set opening position. For example a King's Gambit Thematic, with black to move first, would start from this position:



There are currently 6 open thematic tournaments, take a look at the starting boards in those to see what is meant.
