Recently I was going through an end games book and came across this term.I didnt really understand the concept.So could some one please explain this to me.

It might be describing the rule of when the King can get the Pawn and when he can't. Can you give the context?

It has to do with relative king positions (far and near opposition) in endgames. Here is one article that might get you on the track:

Definition: A term reserved for endgames to describe a connection between two squares, usually based on the interaction of the two Kings. When one King occupies a certain square, the other King must immediately occupy the related square to avoid a worsening of the position.

The concept is used to analyze positions having multiple pairs of related squares where the normal analysis of variations is inadequate.

It sort of makes sense...
