I for one am tired of people trying to bolster their rating by blaiming a timeout victory. I understand that you agree to certain time limits, but when someone who is losing claims a win that way, the subject needs to be addressed. It's not like I wasn't going to move, didn't even get 5 minutes after the 24 hour time limit expired. Keep an eye out for poser's with fake ratings especially Afeliz

I tend not to take the timeouts on the basis of "what is the point?" apart from artificially increasing my rating. Obviously it is part of the game so you have to accept that others will do it.
My real query is tournaments. Aren't they supposed to automatically time out after 2 days? In this one, http://www.redhotpawn.com/tournament/view.php?tid=1883, my opponents skull has been there for 4 days. If the system timed them out my rating could increase but nobody could accuse me of being "lame"... a win-win solution.

I do agree it is low for a player whose winning/losing no matter to claim a timeout victory. Ive done it once on here simply for the fact that the guy wouldnt move since I had him mated in 3. Take me almost 10 days to finally get the final move in, but if you are playing tournaments in live games, whether its 2 minutes or 2 hours they make chess time for the simple reason that you dont take all day and to see how quick your mind is. So you have to take a loss there if you lose on time same as here. If you agree to a time limit stick to it.
