I for one am tired of people trying to bolster their rating by blaiming a timeout victory. I understand that you agree to certain time limits, but when someone who is losing claims a win that way, the subject needs to be addressed. It's not like I wasn't going to move, didn't even get 5 minutes after the 24 hour time limit expired. Keep an eye out for poser's with fake ratings especially Afeliz

yeah....a couple things to remember if you are ahead in a game.
1) don't blunder away your advantage
2) move in the agreed upon time

In this format, I see no difference between taking advantage of an opponent's poor move and taking advantage of an opponent's failure to move.

I'm tired of idiots who cannot honour the time control and then cry wolf. If you accept a time control whether 1/0 or 28/28 don't complain if thay are too short or too long. Were you laying eggs or what were you doing?

It's pretty rare to find someone who wouldn't do this, Sacto.
My best advice is to just get used to it or maybe only play friends & family. They usually won't time you out. 🙂
Also, only accept games with a higher time limit; so you'll have enough time to move/think. Sometimes you have to learn this the hard way. Well, good luck! 🙂

Time controls are part of chess. I suggest you learn to be a better sportsman by showing a little respect for your opponent by playing with in the agreed upon time controls. It's rude to excpet some special treatment just because you thinik you are winning.

You really have a lot of brass. You are winning a game and you expect the person your beating to help you by giving you some extra time ??????? Am I missing something here. I won't give you 1/1000 of relief. This is a game of kill or be killed. Never forget that. Imagine this: I say enemy of mine; had a rough time at the office today. I know what you are saying. ricardolopes77 claimed a timeout victory when he started to lose. I had the strategic advantage but he considered that is in the position to claim a victory!!!
