And I cannot believe I am going to do this, I am going to defend a computer.
Wormwood says the game is rubbish and Heinz 2 -" neither displays some
impress the newbies GM 2800 level."
Totaly agree that Black played sloppy and it does not look like 3200 chess.
(what ever that is - infact how would WE know what 3200 looked like?).
Black got it's Queen into a horrible mess most likely due to the horizon effect.
A decent Human would spot that at a glance but the box must have figured well in
advance - pawn up this is OK.
(more proof that it must be good players who use these things to get the
benefit).
But what was White to do?
If your opponent plays below par then often you have to play the only
moves (or moves) that take advantage of this. And if they are unimaginative
and dry. Then so be it. No choice.
(I've looked for a sac-sac mates but with half a heart. Surely this thing would
have found them.)
Think this was posted to show the limitations of Rybka rather than show
how good Toby was.
It takes two players playing well to produce a good game of chess.
Originally posted by Wulebgr I gotta remember that phrase. It's brilliant!
I'm not sure about the word ploughboy, it showed up in a translation program - yes I used an engine for it. I liked its dubiousness so decided to use it 😛
In Dutch we might call it "betonschaak" - concrete (the substance) chess
I thought about "farmer's chess" but that doesn't really purport its meaning.
I was thinking of the Ukrainian farmer (e3xod?) who calculated out Gruenfeld - Chigorin 1907 to a win where Grunfeld had resigned
"And 21...Rc8 is 'ploughboy chess' (thank you HeinzKat).
A move so bad that after it was played the Rook got up and walked off the board."
Happy Now?
It seems better to me without inverted commas nor credit
Then Eddy Summers will google this Ploughboy chess and first hit will be RHP and will accuse you of plagiarism & engine use and you will get fired from the magazine too
If you're going to do it as "thanks HeinzKat" then I'll pass (I'm not an uppercasian). "thanks heinzkat" or "dedicated to heinzkat" in the opening or end credits... I'll consider.
