What did you expect him to be? Bobby Fischer or something? Even Topalov said he was just lucky in the World Championship. I mean, who do you expect him to be, Kasparov from 1985 or something? Players like that only come along twice a century if we're lucky. Also, look at his competition! Peter Leko!??? Svidler??? Come now! Two GREAT players. Top ten in the world. I am sure if Topalov would have been playing them in a World Championship match, he would have been more involved. After all, he beat them both in the World Chess Championship. It doesn't matter if he loses 100 games. He's still World Chess Champion. hehe

I think he's just tired but still 3 rounds is to early. He could get some wins and have a decent tournament still.

WOW!

You almost had me believe you took the post personally for him!

No, I was not expecting him to be the best player ever!
After his brilliant showing in his last few tourney's, this was a bit of contrast.

Couple that with the clever use of heat since they are playing in MEXICO!

EDIT - I just thought the community would like to be informed and follow this event. So don't try to read to much into the posts😉

So who do we rate? Topalov or Kramnik?

Make that 1/4 and in the basement. Personally I have never believed in this play a round robin to win the world championship thing so I have always supported Kramnik. However it just seems that neither he nor FIDE actually want a reunification match and it's just hard to care.

I think what we're seeing is that there is not one player head and shoulders above the rest. Yesterday Topalov, today Leko, tomorrow Radjabov, who knows. Where is the new Fischer, Karpov, Kasparov? As a whole, I don't think the situation is good for chess. For the game to thrive, it needs a hero or a villian at the top, not a bunch of chickens scrambling for pecking order. Maybe one of the youngsters will suddenly spurt to the forefront and stay there for a little while. Let's hope so.
