Topalov had to know this was a complete farse guys. There were little pieces of paper labeling the squares, and after every move, in order to relay the moves back to her cheat friend, she obviously had to say the move back. Think about it, when you have played a casual game against anyone, have any of them made any mention of the coordinate system or made any attempt to mark the squares? Topalov is just a nice enough guy to go along with it.
I always get suspicious if my opponents keeps leaving the playing room and come back after a while and plays good moves. You never know now days. I think there was a person who did that at the canadain open last year which we hosted. He kept leaving after every move almost claiming he had to go to the washroom, etc..and then would come back and play incredible moves.

We discovered there was nothing wrong; he could either play very well drunk, or had a very high alcohol tolerance, and suffered from bladder problems every drinker suffers after a few pints! 😕
Originally posted by RahimKDude, that's why the pieces of paper were on the squared. You could hear her say the moves back, all of them, if you payed attention. Topalov had to know, he isn't stupid. Not to mention there was a camera and it was for a TV show. Cmon.

I actually do recall her now relaying the moves back, but i'm just saying that she didn't have to do it. Someone else watching could have done that. That's all i'm saying.
Originally posted by RahimKOh, yeah, that's true. It wouldn't be too hard for them to have a spy with a phone or something like that. 🙂

You know when top gm's are playing games, their moves are being relayed either by the board itself hooked up to a computer or through camera's, audience etc...
That's what I meant. I don't think your allowed to have a cell phone in inside the tournament hall?
Not sure, but I know if it rings, you get the boot and are forced to resign. Same with our club.
Originally posted by asromacalcioI'm saying it's dumb because Topolav knew about it. He was just playing along. That was not a good prank. I've seen much better ones.
Am I missing something here? A TV presenter plays a game against the World Champion and with the help of a third party, probably electronic, manages to get a draw. What's all the fuss about?

It is a good trick or joke when you fool the person with it and it is funny and does not harm anyone. A few moves and a draw. I do not get it. It is not funny nor was it a much of a trick. They did not play the trick very well. P.S. I hate those short GM draws.
The average person watching that channel would be like,
Wow what a trick. She fooled him, look he had no idea what is going on.
But us chess players know it was a dumb prank and didn't fall for it!
