Tournament details:
Timeout 3 days
Timebank 7 days
Min. Players 16
Max. Players 64
Pairing Random
Group size 2

A dual tournament means that you play against one opponent. Hence the group size is two, you and your opponent. You play two games, one with white and the other with black. The winner goes through to the next round. If your scores are equal, you both go through.

The same holds for each next round. Until the last round (that contains only one group). The winnner of that round/group wins the tournament.

I assume that the other details are clear?

Other tournaments are basically the same, but the group size can vary. A groupsize of 8 for example, means you play agains 7 others, 2 games each, meaning a total of 14 games. So beware of that!

Then you have thematic tournaments, where each game starts at a given starting position.

Thanks much Adje. I know such basic questions are pretty blah for you more experienced players, but it is really frustrating to be in my position.. Again, thank you much and good luck in you future games.
