As long as both players agree on what they want to do they may do whatever (commenting, teasing, talking trash).
As soon as one player is not comfortable it should stop.
There is alsoi the possibility to add a person to a "ignore" list. In that case you won't get any in game messages any more.

If it's mild and good natured, yes. When you deliver a crushing move and there's no way out, ask them if they've ever played chess before, that's usually good for a chuckle. Put a doo00OOOD ! at the start of the question.

I only trash talk with one person, a buddy of mine that I've wargamed with for 25 years. I'll get the advantage and start telling him what I'm going to do to beat him, then do it. We both have this really ugly competitive streak when we play... 😵

If a person is n00Bish enough to force you to deliver mate, when you make the last move say "Checkmate, phaaaaag"! Then put them on your ignore list.
