ok, so i learned how to play about a year ago and i havent really studied or anything. i mean, ive learned opening lines and i do a quick analysis of all my games and ive read a few books, but other than that ive just played.
what are some techniques to help me improve? i mean, for my age i think my rating is ok but it's nothin special. i want to be around a 1700 player in 6 months. i know that's gonna take a lot but i dont know where to start. any tips would be good.
what books have you read? knowing the opening moves is one thing but also you should know the plans for each opening you play. i play higher rated players than me for a lot of games and just get trashed i go back look at the games and then find what i did wrong and then play better and do it all over again.

Right now my USCF rating is p1525 but i havent played a tournament since August and rarely played any since then so I'm sure it's gone down. I really don't know where I stand rating wise so getting to 1700 maybe a little too far fetched for 6 months. idk
